A poorly specified unit (heating/ cooling capacity or air-delivery) may be cheaper to buy in the first place, but will cost more to run and will let you down when you need it most.

Proper designed system will save you money

Whatever form of air-conditioning you are considering it is vital that the unit selected meets your needs and the needs of the property.

An under-specified unit will be working its heart out trying to deliver the temperature you want. Not only will it not achieve it but it's burning up excessive power trying to get there - costing you money, the planet energy and overstressing the unit itself - shortening it's life.

It's not unusual for our professional consultants to see other quotations specifying undersized units. Fairly obviously a smaller unit will be cheaper to purchase (a false economy) but more often it is obvious that the quotation simply has not taken proper account of the heat or cooling load of the property and the client's needs.

Once the appropriate unit has been selected it is vital that the duct layout (for ducted systems) be professionally designed. A heating system that heats the Master bedroom to 25° while heating the lounge to 17° is of no use to anybody - but that's what can happen if the duct layout is wrong, or incorrectly installed.

Of course it's no good having the right unit with a beautifully designed duct layout if the fan isn't capable of delivering enough air - that has to be calculated too, to make sure that there is enough air changes e.g.
